good location

the location of the hotel, near city and all sightseeing places. there are many restaurants near the hotel, walking distance from hotel to the main city in Seoul. time saver for short visit.

No daily cleaning provided from the hotel, toilet was in the open space no door and the bed was not that comfortable. the bed needs to change or provide the softer cushion. the choice of breakfast was too simple.

Everything (except the location) is very mediocre and not worth the price.

It’s close to a metro station and at the same time it's pretty quite.

Room is old and sometimes dirty. Bed linen with holes. In the room, there are two useless PC with so dirty keyboards. Breakfast is just instant ramen from 7-Eleven.

we booked family room, 1 double bed and 1 single bed with a kitchenette, we were given only 1 double bed. when queried reception, they said “it is only photo” not sure what it meant but quite disappointed

The worst stay I have for two years.

Bed and bath were good. Receptionists allowed me to leave my luggage there. Location is good.

Everything except bed and bath - is terrible. Dust everywhere. Stuff was not pleasant.

Love it for short stays, not ideal for long stays

The May Hotel is a boutique hotel located in the historical district of Jongno. It’s only a few steps away from the hanbok village of Ikseondong, filled with many delicious restaurants and coffees, as well as diverse shops. The area is safe and extremely well connected with subway lines 1, 3 and 5 available right up the street. Lines 2 and 4 aren’t too far either. The famous Gwangjang food market within walking distance too. During the day the neighborhood is frequented by the elderly, but gets very lively at night (on the weekends it gets loud) with street food, tent bars and pochas. There are a few tourists (most coming back from or going to Ikseondong or Chandeokgung palace), but not as much as in other tourist-y areas like Myeongdong. You’ll be immersed in Korean culture. For breakfast I went to a small shop frequented by local grandpas (before the Twosome Place) that makes delicious lattes and milk teas. My room was clean, spacious and nicely decorated. They won’t enter your room for cleaning unless you ask at the desk, which I appreciated. Personnel was always pleasant, polite and as helpful as they could (special thanks to Mr Kim!), even if they don’t speak much English. You get free coffee, water, Netflix and fast wifi in every room. Bed is just right, not too soft or hard. There was both a shower and a bathtub. Water pressure was very good, although water could take some time to get hot. The toilet has a heating seat which was nice touch, but be careful of putting too much paper in it.

Not ideal for long stays. You’ll find no amenities such as gym, laundry, dining area or rooftop bar, so it can get complicated after a while. In the rooms there is barely any storage for personal effects. One important thing is, you pay at check in, not check out. For those reasons I think it’s more like a nice motel rather than a true hotel. The room I ended up with was spacious, luminous and very comfortable, however I had to insist. At first I was put in 2 rooms that were dark and smelled of tobacco. (Not sure how, since there are smoke detectors and smoking is forbidden). But Mr Kim was helpful and made sure that I was happy with my room.

Very Poor

Waiting nearly an hour for check in as counter kept telling can't find my booking detail, booked family suite room but given normal double room. Information show there's one double bed, one single bed and living hall but given room with only one double bed. Poor attitude at counter, when I ask for the room differences, they replied if not suitable then you just cancel it. Breakfast as well don't provide.

Good amenities at a great location. Cleanliness can be improved.

Great location, few mins walk from metro exits with escalator/ stairs. Lots of eateries nearby. Washroom comes with bidet and separated bath with tub. Good shower amenities. Helpful and friendly front desk staff Thanks!

Tap was loose and shaky. Bed and pillows overly soft to our liking and felt like ‘sinking’. A lot of dust on the air conditioner outlet and certain common surfaces, temp unable to control thus quite hot. Room view facing wall of building beside.
